Conbook 2024 Submissions are open!

Howloween is proud to announce that we will be producing our very first conbook this year! The conbook will contain helpful resources such as floor maps, information on featured guests, details on highlighted events, DJs, Artists, and of course-artwork, stories and ad space!

All convention attendees are welcome to submit content for the conbook for consideration. Please note that there is a finite amount of space in the conbook, so submissions will be taken on a first come, first serve basis. Please note that absolutely no 18+ content will be included in the conbook. All content will be reviewed by the editor prior to inclusion.

Submission Guidelines

For Artwork

We prefer that any artwork submitted is aligned with the con theme. General artwork submissions not on-theme may be turned down in favour of themed artwork. The piece may be standalone character art, or art with a background. Artwork submissions may have an artist signature but may not contain any commercial advertisement.

Artwork submissions are accepted in the following sizes:

  • Quarter page: 1650 x 638px + 10px bleed
  • Half page: 1650 x1275px + 10px bleed
  • Full page: 1650 x 2550px + 10px bleed

All submissions must be 300dpi resolution for print! CMYK is also preferred; if artwork is submitted in RGB, it will be converted to CMYK by the editor.

For Writing

Creative writing submissions are also welcome! Like visual artwork, on-theme content is preferred. General writing may be turned down in favour of themed work.

Writing submissions (up to 500 words) may include:

  • Short stories
  • Poetry
  • Comics/sequential art (must follow artwork guidelines above)
  • Script/skits

Content must adhere to the SFW conbook policy.

For Ad Space

Ad space is available in the conbook for sales, services and events looking for a little extra publicity! Please note that ad space also follows the SFW policy, and is reserved for business, professional or philanthropic use. No personal/classified ad space. Ads do not need to adhere to the con theme.

Ad submissions are accepted in these sizes at the following CAD rates:

  • Corner card: 825 x 638px + 10px bleed - $30
  • Quarter page: 1650 x 638px + 10px bleed - $40
  • Half page: 1650 x1275px + 10px bleed - $80
  • Full page: 1650 x 2550px + 10px bleed - $150

To purchase ad space, you must send your completed ad artwork to [email protected] with the subject line “CONBOOK AD: [Ad size] for [Your name]”. If your ad is approved, you will receive a Paypal invoice from the con for payment.

After you receive your invoice, your spot is held for 5 business days until the invoice is paid. If you do not submit payment within that time frame, your space will be passed on to the next applicant in line.

Any ad space purchase also comes with a FREE digital ad block to be added to the rotation on the hotel screens! This ad must be sized at 1920x1080 px with a minimum resolution of 72dpi. Simply include this format of your ad alongside your print version when you submit by email.

The deadline for conbook submissions is October 18th, 2024 at 11:59PM. Due to layout and printing time turnaround, submissions received after the deadline cannot be included in the conbook. Please be mindful of the timeline if you want your submission included!
